Satyr / Beast Stilting Pants

We've got two shows coming up in the next week or two where Darrell, my fabulous hubby and partner in crime, will be performing on his jumping stilts.  This was my first attempt at making costumes for jumping stilts - I've made regular stilt pants before but this was kind of a new challenge.

For the first gig he's going to be the Big Bad Wolf (and I get to be Red Riding Hood, oh MY.. what big ears you have..) and for the second, he's going to be a satyr.  For both gigs I'm going to body paint his upper half and add appropriate costume bits.  I'm gonna have to think about the claws..

But here are the pants I came up with.  I like the design a lot.  They are convertible - they work great as regular floor-length pants, and have two pieces that velcro securely onto the back and bottom to extend them down to cover the stilts.  I left the bottom of the stilts visible - for safety and also just because, well, the stilts look COOL.

I made a silly little video of him bouncing in them.  With the paint and the rest of the costume, these are gonna look HOT!

Fancy Pants and Men's Hoodies

lfWhat I've been up to lately... my friend Boston is an AMAZING massage therapist in San Francisco, and he offered to trade me fashion for massage.  I've been wanting to work up a Men's elf hoodie lately anyway, and so here's the design.  I hope he likes it.  I sure do.  I wanna do a good photo shoot of it before it goes, so I can make more later.. but I really love the way it turned out.  It reminds me very much of Legolas the Elf's outfit from the Lord of the Rings movies.  Mmmm... yummy elf boys in fleece....

I also used the rest of the red and black stripey fabric from Happy Stop ($2/yard!  That place is AWESOME) and made a vest and pants outfit that is, if I may say so myself, Very Hott.  I was going to sell it but now I'm quite attached to it.. if I can find time to get back to Happy Stop and get more of that fabric, there will be more outfits like this.  There will probably be anyway.  Fun stuff.  I already made another top using the same pattern with velvet sparkly fabric.  I'm starting to build up a lil' backlog of stuff that needs to be photographed.  :)

Thinking about pants.. Fairies, Phoenix & Melodia

I made some fleece pants the other day and it got me thinking about my favorite pants.. the ones that make me feel like a fairy.. the ones that are so much fun that I have to wear just simple stuff with them so as not to go overboard with STYLE.  There are some amazing designers out there!  Here are a couple of my favorites:

Phoenix Rising pants.. I discovered these while looking for a fire-safe performance costume and they have almost become "signature" Fire Pixie Fire Performance pants.   

Melodia Pants.. these are some of the most unique and best quality pants I've ever found.  Love love LOVE them.  Yes.

Wow.  How fairy can you get?  I want a pair of these pretty badly.. maybe they'll trade me for a hoodie?  ;)

And, of course, I love Lululemon's stuff too.  Comfy and their fabric is really wonderful.. it's thick and stretchy and breatheable and tasty and it makes pretty much anyone look amazing.  Wish I could buy it by the yard.. wouldn't funky fairy pants look and feel GREAT in Luon fabric?
