A new twist on my traditional Shepherd's pie recipe.

The Cast of Ingredients and Utensils
Minced turkey (ground turkey to my American friends)
You could use any other minced meat, I had turkey in the freezer, so that is what I used.
Frozen Mixed vegetables
Frozen Oven Chips (fries to my American friends)
Instant Gravy Granules
Oven proof Dish for baking the finished dish in
Frying pan for the mince
Jug for cooking veg in microwave and making gravy in
Teaspoon for measuring gravy granules
Sauce whisk
Spatula

1. Put the oven on to 200 C. That is 400f.

2. Put the frozen mixed vegetables into a jug or other microwave proof container and zap for a few minutes. I used half a full bag. Don't worry if they are not completely cooked through, don't forget that they are going to be baked in the oven later.

3. Fry the minced meat until browned all over.

4. When you are setting your sink up ready to wash the dishes, don't put too much dishwashing liquid in, or this is what happens. (GRIN)

5. When the meat is browned, pop it into the ovenproof dish.

6. Mix the vegetables with the meat.

7. Following the instructions for amounts on your packet of instant gravy, make up 1 pint.

8. Mix the gravy into the meat mixture. If you are going to be freezing this for cooking another time, allow this mixture to cool before you continue.

Meanwhile sneak into the living room and catch a photo of your eldest son on the treadmill!

9. Pour the frozen oven chips over the top of the dish, distributing evenly. If freezing for later use, wrap here and freeze. Bake in the oven at 200 C for half an hour or so.

10. Remove from the oven and serve!
